Setting Goals
May 5 2008, 8:58 AM EDT Well, I finished walking the Indy 500 Mini-Marathon on Saturday. It was 13.1 miles and took me around 3 1/2 hours to complete. There were over 35,000 runner/walkers in the largest mini in the country. Being a part of such a large event was awsome! The weather was perfect, the entertainment was always entertaining and the people along the route were inspiring! The best part was of course, finishing. I had been training for 8 months for this race. I was not in shape at all when I started. I've always been the athletic type but never have really been in shape in my whole life! Since having the kids and not working outside the home, my muscle tone has deteriorated. Having a friend invite me to participate in the race gave me a good reason to finally get in shape, something I've wanted to do for a long time. Even though my husband and kids were hours away at my son's mountain bike race, I was so proud of myself for my accomplishment! I did it for me! What goals are you willing to set for yourself? What changes have you been wanting to make? Do you find this valuable? |
